Public service announcements to air on Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket will raise awareness of crisis in public education
LOS ANGELES Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa today announced the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools has released the first of three 30-second public service announcements (PSAs) as part of a larger campaign to generate awareness of the crisis in LA's lowest performing public schools. The new PSA, titled "The Time is Now," will air initially on Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket, a strategic partner of the Partnership.
"We have the will, the energy, and the dedication to drive reform in our low performing schools but we cannot do it alone," Mayor Villaraigosa said. "We must continue to form partnerships aligned around tangible reform in education. FOX Sports West is partnering with us to make real change happen at our schools and in lives of the students they serve by graciously producing and airing these informative PSA's to spread the word that our schools are in need and everyone can help."
"We want to raise the volume and bring new audiences into the campaign to change our city's poorest and low performing schools," Partnership CEO Marshall Tuck said. "And thanks to the generosity of our partners at FOX Sports West, who helped us create these wonderful PSAs, we hope to raise awareness of both the dimensions of the problems we face, as well as the potential for success we see every day-a potential that tells us we can do this."
The PSA is the opening salvo in a six-month marketing campaign, created by FOX Sports West in an effort to engage civic leaders in the Partnership and its schools. Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket became a strategic partner of the Partnership a year ago when it adopted Santee High School.
"We have been working with the Partnership for over a year now, beginning with the adoption of Santee Education Complex last summer," said Steve Simpson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of FOX Sports West and PRIME TICKET. "We have seen the positive impact on the students' lives and we encourage other LA corporations to join the effort in improving our children's education by adopting a Partnership school."
"Raising awareness of a problem is always the first step in solving it," Chris Hannan, Senior Vice President of Marketing, FOX Sports Networks said. "The PSAs are designed to draw attention to the crisis facing our public school system and to spark action from the business community. FOX Sports West's adoption of Santee is a real world example of the positive impact businesses can have by getting involved in this program."

About the Partnership
The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools was founded in 2007 as the cornerstone of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's strategy to improve education in Los Angeles. It is a unique collaboration between the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District to turnaround LA's lowest performing schools and to create a model for doing so district wide. The largest non-district school operator in Los Angeles, the Partnership currently manages 21 schools with approximately 20,000 students and 1500 employees. The Partnership is a 501(c) 3 non-profit education management organization with nearly 30 employees.
